Official Bayern Munich have completed their third move from RB Leipzig, signing captain Marcel Sabitzer. According to Bild, the clubs have agreed on a transfer fee that is below the initially rumoured sum of €16 million. The midfielder’s market value amounts to €42 million – the 27-year-old’s contract expiring on June 30, 2022 made this deal possible. Now, Sabitzer is bound to the Bavarians until 2025. He will also not need a long acclimatisation period because he is already very familiar with the philosophy of our coach Julian Nagelsmann,” said Oliver Kahn, CEO of Bayern Munich. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić added: “We are very happy that we could win Marcel Sabitzer for FC Bayern. Marcel is a very good footballer, he has a great mentality, is very ambitious and as captain of RB he has carried responsibility on and off the pitch. After all, our coach knows him very well, also as a leading player. We are looking forward to him.”Bayern buy from RB Leipzig: Three important additions for around €70mIn February, the record champions had announced the imminent transfer of Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano (fee: €42.5 million) via an exit clause, at the end of April, the transfer of head coach Julian Nagelsmann (fee: at least €15 million) became official, before Sabitzer now follows his two companions to Säbener Straße.
