Chelsea squandered a huge opportunity to open the scoring one minute into the first half's stoppage time, when an unmarked Marc Cucurella failed to beat Courtois from close distance.

Kante's shot was blocked before Enzo Fernandez sent his strike wide of the left post before the hour mark and Real Madrid punished the hosts, with Rodrygo scoring on the counter in the 58th minute.

The Brazilian star completed his brace with 10 minutes to put the tie to bed and seal qualification to the semi-finals of the competition.

There they will face the winners of the duel between Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid will find out their next opponents on Wednesday night, when the Bavarians host the Sky Blues in Munich. Pep Guardiola's side won the first game 3-0 on home soil.
