Winning a Champions League is not the same as winning it as a 'big team'. And Luis Enrique's PSG did just that. In Munich, they overcame Inter Milan in Munich, wiping them off the map in just 20 minutes... and then beating them by a historic margin. After eliminating Brest, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal, it was the Italians' turn. Désiré Doué, MVP of the final with two goals and an assist, led PSG to their first Champions League title... and the coveted Treble (Lucho's second). Munich did not fail the cabal and crowned, once again, a new European champion.
The 5-0 scoreline in Munich, which impeccably reflected the overwhelming superiority seen on the pitch, was the biggest goal in the history of a European Cup or Champions Cup final. A fact that reflects the feat of Luis Enrique's team. It is very difficult to win a European Cup. And even more so, to do it in such a way.
Cristiano Ronaldo comes face-to-face with a man identical to him and can't contain his shock
And the fact is that it was already a duel of contrasts. PSG came to the Allianz with the youngest eleven (25 years and 96 days) in a Champions League final in the 21st century; Inter, on the other hand, with the third oldest eleven in a Champions League or European Cup final: 30 years and 242 days. The average age difference between the two starting line-ups, five years and 146 days, was the largest in a Champions League final.
And as if the hunger and desire to win depended only on youth, PSG came out to the game much more active, in search of the first European Cup in its history. They took the initiative and although Inter seemed not to suffer, all the ball was for 'Lucho's' team. After 11 minutes, it was 1-0. A 'training' play, perfectly executed from Vitinha's pass to Doué's assist for Achraf. The player from Madrid scored in front of the Curva del Inter and apologized to his former fans in 2020-21.

Record goals
That, in fact, was the death knell of the final. PSG were well aware of their superiority and they put the Italians to the sword eight minutes later, around the 20' mark. From a corner for the equalizer, it was 2-0. Pacho saved on the line a ball protected by Barella and an academic counter-attack ended with Doué's goal. A nightmare night for Dimarco, and a night of celebration for the Frenchman. The second youngest player (almost 20 years old, he turns 20 on June 3) to score and assist in a Champions League final, after Brian Kidd in 1968 with Manchester United (vs. Benfica).
It was a walkover and confirmation, in the eyes of the world, that Luis Enrique's PSG is a masterpiece. The first team to score two goals in the first 20 minutes of a Champions League final. Almost nothing.

Inter, meanwhile, were still on the canvas. Their first real chance came from a set piece in the 37th minute, when Thuram's header hit the post. But it was an isolated, almost anecdotal action. The Parisians, in fact, went into the dressing room close to a third. They pressed, and Inter were trembling. They had it in their hands.
A Parisian dance
There was no reaction from an Inter team that left everything in the play-off against Barcelona. From dreaming of the treble in April, they were left with nothing in May: no Coppa, no Serie A... and no Champions League. Kvaratskhelia and Dembélé had three chances before Doué, in his great night, sentenced the Milanese. He finished a beautiful counter-attack for a 3-0 that, now yes, certified the 'nerazzurro' sinking.
Glory for the former Stade de Rennais player, who left the Allianz Stadium to a standing ovation minutes later. Kvaratskhelia was the one who rolled the victory, against an Inter full of mismatches and with numerous holes at the back. The Georgian is another of the great stories of the 2024-25 season: champion of Italy, champion of France... and champion of the Champions League in the same season.

Inter's first shot on goal came in the 74th minute, a shot by Thuram that Gianluigi Donnarumma saved with a great hand. Also in the goal, the difference between the two sides was clear and 'Gigio', at other times much criticized, was confirmed as the best goalkeeper of this Champions League.
PSG closed a historic night with a 5-0 win by the very young Mayulu and finally achieved the great ambition with which Qatar arrived in Paris... in 2011. 14 years later, they became the second French team to win a European Cup, equaling Olympique de Marseille (1993). A season of Triplet (Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Champions League) that can still improve with the Club World Cup, to which PSG, why not, goes as top favorite.
