Former Premier League referee jailed for nine years for raping a man

Steven Wilson, an assistant referee who was promoted to the Premier League in 2005 under the name Stephen Dorr, has been sentenced to nine years in prison after being found guilty of raping a man in 2009 in Worcester, England.

Steven Wilson managed to evade justice until 2021 when the victim recognised him from an article about his other sexual offences and reported him to the police.

The former Premier League referee was found guilty of rape and sexual assault at Worcester Crown Court and the judge referred to him as "cunning and manipulative".

Steven Wilson had a criminal record. In 2009, he confessed to downloading indecent images and communicating with underage children, and in 2011 he was jailed for 15 months for sex offences relating to teenagers.
