Alexander-Arnold breaks: 'I'm devastated, he was more than a friend, he was like family to me'.

The Real Madrid footballer explained that he found out the news when he woke up to numerous messages of condolence and, at first, could not believe it. "I had to look at social media to understand what was going on. I thought it was a mistake... but no. I'm still in shock," said Trent, who could barely hold back tears during the interview.

Even so, he played more than an hour of the match and managed to provide an assist, showing admirable professionalism.

Despite the emotional burden, Alexander-Arnold was keen to highlight the response from the footballing world: "It's been incredible to see how everyone has come together to show their support, on and off the pitch. I'm sure his family appreciates it," he said. The player also acknowledged that the triumph against Dortmund was special, but that "nothing can make up for the void left" by the loss of his friend.
