Free agent this summer After ten years at the club, Jérôme Boateng will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season. The 32-year-old center-back will be one of the most valuable free agents available on the transfer market this upcoming summer. Until recently, Boateng was heavily linked with a move to England. On Tuesday, Bild confirmed a report by France Football that Boateng's former coach Niko Kovac is interested in bringing the defender to AS Monaco. Kovac hopes that Boateng could add some depth and experience to a youthful defense that is set to lose Benoît Badiashile this summer. Boateng is expected to ask for a three-year contract that is significantly below his €12 million Bayern Munich salary. There are several obstacles for Monaco to overcome before they can sign Boateng, however. The central defender was not a regular starter during Kovac's time in Munich. "Even before Hansi Flick became the coach, I always worked hard but didn't always get a chance to play, and it was hard to find a rhythm. That makes it hard for players."
