The Argentine star will forever be remembered for that tearful farewell when he left the club to join Paris Saint-Germain, but now he has given us another deeply emotional moment after hearing how several fans spoke about him.

Talking about the Argentine "number 10" at Barça is something special, and that was made crystal clear in every word from the people who appeared in the video.

Messi was on the verge of tears

The world champion received an award handed out by the city of Barcelona, according to the newspaper Sport. It's a recognition of everything he has done both on and off the pitch, after winning the hearts of a fanbase that still loves him to this day.

In the video circulating online, you can see Messi with glassy eyes and speaking in a broken voice due to emotion. He received the award in Miami because his schedule made it impossible to attend the gala held in Madrid.

"The truth is," he began, "we've been through so many things together-great moments and some not-so-great ones too. That's normal over a career that spans so many years; not everything is perfect, and you go through difficult times. But anyway... it's my home, my place, my people. I would have loved to spend my entire career there without ever having to leave for another club. And... well, to have only played there in Europe."

And the biggest confession came when he said he will return to Barcelona:

"Obviously, I'm going to come back. I'll be at the stadium like just another fan, following the team, the club, and being one more supporter. For now, I'll probably be here [in Miami] a few more years, but we will return to Barcelona because, as I've always said, it's my place, my home. We miss it a lot, so we'll be back."
