The Premier League has confirmed the dates for the 2026-27 season, which will run from Saturday 22 August 2026 to Sunday 30 May 2027, with all matches on the final day being played simultaneously, as usual.

Faced with an increasingly congested international calendar, the Premier League stressed that "player welfare remains a priority", and therefore the competition will start a week later than usual, allowing 89 days of rest from the end of the current campaign and 33 days from the end of the 2026 World Cup.

In addition, the season will finish a week before the Champions League final, scheduled for June 5, 2027, which will be played at the Metropolitano stadium in Madrid.

The 2026-27 season will include 33 competition weekends and five midweek matchdays with the aim of "minimising conflicts with domestic competitions and UEFA dates wherever possible".

During the Christmas period, the Premier League has ensured that no two rounds of matches will be played within 60 hours, in line with the commitment made to clubs to ease the traditional congestion of the Christmas and New Year fixture schedule within the new expanded international framework.

The Premier League also stressed that in 2026, Boxing Day (December 26) will return to normal, with several matches taking place on that day, after only one match will be played in 2025
