A bacteria from eating chicken was the cause of Kylian Mbappe's hospitalization during the Club World Cup. The French player, who spent a couple of days in hospital (he was admitted on Wednesday and left the medical center on Thursday afternoon) with a severe gastroenteritis and fever, missed the team's first matches in the USA due to this poisoning, which made him lose a lot of weight during the process

According to L'Equipe, the player already travelled with some discomfort and when he arrived in the US he had to be admitted to hospital. Even appendicitis (Ferran Torres missed Barca's La Liga farewell for this reason) and heat stroke were ruled out. After analysis, it was concluded that it was an acute food poisoning caused by a bacterium that is usually found in poultry.

Mbappe could not make his World Cup debut until the round of 16 due to the weakness left by the illness.
