Jack Jones didn't just make the biggest play of the night, he made the moment that defined the NFL's historic debut in Spain.
In a tense, physical showdown between the Miami Dolphins and Washington Commanders inside a fully transformed Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, it was Jones' overtime interception and the celebration that followed that sent Madrid into a frenzy and turned him into an overnight viral star.
The Dolphins edged out a 16-13 victory in the league's first-ever regular-season game in Spain, sealed by a Riley Patterson field goal after Jones jumped a route on the opening play of overtime.
But what happened next ensured the night would be remembered for far more than the scoreline.
Jones sprinted toward the sideline, leapt, twisted mid-air, and landed with his arms stretched wide, a near-perfect recreation of Cristiano Ronaldo's famed "SIU!" celebration, performed on the very turf Ronaldo once ruled. Nearly 80,000 fans roared back in approval.
"I had to bring that out," Jones said. "I told my friend, 'When I make a play, be ready for that celebration.'"
Madrid's debut as an NFL host city was more than a novelty. With the stadium reconfigured for American football, seats removed, the field extended, and team colors draped across Real Madrid's iconic venue, the atmosphere felt both unfamiliar and electric.
The game itself didn't disappoint. Both teams battled through a tense, low-scoring first half before Washington broke through with a 20-yard touchdown by Deebo Samuel to open the third quarter.
Miami responded with a one-yard run by rookie Ollie Gordon, but neither side could capitalize on red-zone chances down the stretch.
Washington came closest to winning it in regulation. Marcus Mariota, who threw for 213 yards and rushed for 49 more, led the Commanders into field-goal range with seconds remaining.

But Matt Gay's 56-yard attempt drifted wide right, his second costly miss.
"It's tough," Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said. "We had our opportunity to go win it. We didn't get that done."
The teams' overtime fortunes flipped instantly. On the first snap, Mariota looked toward Zach Ertz, only for Jones to undercut the route.
"Guy undercut it and made a play," Mariota said. "Unfortunate there. Credit to him."
Moments later, Patterson's 29-yard kick sealed the win.
A rare highlight in a season of frustration
Miami's victory capped a promising two-week stretch that included a convincing win over Buffalo and a breakout performance from running back De'Von Achane, who delivered 120 yards on 21 carries plus 45 receiving yards.
Linebacker Jordyn Brooks added 20 tackles in a standout defensive effort.
"It's a great team victory," quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said. "We're going to take this momentum into the bye."
Washington, meanwhile, remains stuck in a downward spiral. The loss marked its sixth straight, coming just one week after a deflating home defeat to Detroit.
Missed tackles, special-teams errors, including a muffed punt by Mike Sainristil, and pair of failed fourth-and-goal attempts painted the picture of a team unable to finish games.
Mariota briefly left the field for concussion evaluation before returning to nearly lead a game-winning drive. But the final overtime mistake overshadowed his otherwise efficient outing.
I know I risk awakening the faceless bots, but Miami Dolphins cornerback Jack Jones doing the Cristiano Ronaldo ‘Siuuu’ celebration at the Bernabeu Stadium after making a crucial interception is quality content.

A celebration that defined the moment
Ultimately, the night will be remembered less for the standings and more for what it symbolized. The NFL wanted spectacle, culture, and connection in its first trip to Madrid - and Jack Jones delivered all three in one sequence.
A game-saving interception. A world-famous goal celebration. A roaring crowd inside a stadium known for moments of footballing magic.
If the league aimed to make an impact on its first regular-season visit to Spain, Jones ensured it did so with a flourish worthy of the Bernabéu.
And with one leap and one roar, he linked two sports, two continents, and one unforgettable night.
